This here makes perfect sense, doesn't it?
Well, count me out.

things happen
When I started planning my so-called escape to Italy, I was suggested to definitely also buy a return ticket. Things happen and it's good to know that can at least go home to your mom who doesn't say mean things to you no matter how big of a failure you are. Well, I wouldn't consider myself a failure just yet. Or ever, really. First of all I came here knowing perfectly well how difficult it will be to find a job. Well, I tried my luck. No luck, unfortunately. Secondly, I came here for the experience of a foreign country, experience of Italy. And I now have this experience. As for luck, I am still hoping for the best. Being an uncurabale optimist I can hope until the last day. Maybe life has a movie-like scene in store for me: I am packing my suitcase, crying about the fact I have to leave tomorrow. And then: a phone call with an offer for the Best Job Ever. Things happen, as I said before. Frankly, I'd like things to happen b e f o r e the very last minute. I'd would be happy with anything, really. Just that I wouldn't have to leave this country so soon.
Why am I bringing this up? Well, the date on the ticket is advancing with super-speed. I can change the date on the ticket but I am not one hundred per cent sure if I should. My money-well is dry and frankly I don't have any rich and dying relatives. Things happen, as I have said twice before. Oh, let them happen so that I wouldn't have to leave just yet!

Venice
So I went to Venice. And to Bologna too, for that matter. This meant hours and hours on the train but the trip was well worth it. I liked Bologna which seemed so calm for me who I am used already to the chaotic life of Rome. I liked meeting my Estonian friend who lives near Bologna and is doing her vet practice there.
Also, I met my long-time internet friend who lives close to Venice. He showed us around and the day was indeed perfect, a bit too hot maybe. yeah well, i didn't even let the dog poop and the smell of the canals bother me. As for Venice, it is a picture perfect town. You can see it from the pictures. Fortunately for you you can only see, not smell. Nevertheless, walking there was great and I would really recommend people to go there.
But....There are too many tourists there already.

The earthquake
...still feels like a dream. Three days have passed and I'm still having difficulties in believing this. I have been to L'Aquila. I remember eating porchetta on the main square, I remember visiting the curches and walking on the streets. Now it's all gone. There are only ruins and a countless number of people in distress. In 2009 we are still completely powerless against the forces of nature. Nothing more to say. I just feel unbelievably depressed about this.
